A premium model of the Mercury Marquis from 1975 to 1982, the Grand Marquis became a standalone model in 1983. Throughout its entire production run, the Grand Marquis served as the Mercury line’s flagship vehicle

It was Mercury’s equivalent to Ford’s Crown Victoria. Between 1979 and 2011, the Lincoln Town Car along with the Mercury Grand Marquise shared the Panther platform.
